Uthara Antherjanam started her first steps in dance from the very early age of 5. Her mother, Smt. Sobha Antherjanam being her first Guru, she has also learnt dance under eminent personalities and taken her Bachelor's degree in dance. Trained in various dance forms and proven herself as a versatile dancer, her passion towards the dance form 'Odissi' made her reach Odisha, the land where Odissi was born. Uthara got trained under Guru Ratikanta Mohapathra and Smt. Sujatha Mohapathra at the most prestigious institute 'Srjan' , founded by the legandary Guru Padmavibhushan Kelucharan Mohapathra. She has also done a certification in Odissi from Sri Sri University, a premier university in the country. She was also trained under eminent Gurus like Sri Jayan Bharathakshetra(faculty, Dance Ihayami , Scotland)
The sound of her ghoongaroos has adorned many stages in India and abroad. She had the privilege to have performed in many world renowned stages like 'Esplanade' Theatre in Singapore, Temple of Fine Art in Kuala Lumpur. She has also performed in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Bahrain, Kuwait, Doha etc. Her talent was recognized by eminent personalities like Sri Soorya Krishnamoorthy and is a regular performer in Soorya Festival and his productions. She has also performed for productions of the famous Director and chairman of Kerala Film Development corporation, Sri Lenin Rajendran.
As a child, Uthara was very keen to learn dance and would spend hours dancing and watching her mother teach. Her close association with the institute founded by her mother 'Lalithodayam Nrithalaya', kept her always connected to dance. Right from childhood, she started exhibiting her artistic talents and has won many prizes in youth festivals. She was the first to present Odissi in Kerala University Youth festival which won her the first place.
Uthara has performed in many TV channels such as Doordarsan, Asianet, Amritha, Kairali e.t.c. Her face has graced many entertainment media, of which the most recognized are those for Jet Wings (Jet Airways magazine), ITDC and KTDC, the camera of which was done by the celebrated cinematographer Santhosh Shivan. She is also one of the lead dancers in the dance production 'Njanappana' choreographed b the veteran actor and dancer Sri Vineeth Radhakrishnan, along with other established dancer and cine artists like Lakshmi Gopalaswami.
Uthara is an empanalled artist with SPICMACAY, where she finds happiness in promoting Indian dance forms to the children at school level. Graded artist with Doordarshan Kendra, Uthara intends to spread this knowledge of arts to more people by teaching, performing and through workshops.
